Planning our trip to India

We've always wanted to go to India again. Our first trip was to Mumbai (at that time, called Bombay) and we were there for only a few days. Steve and I were on the Board of Directors of a non-profit group which was presenting a special award at a dinner in the Oberoi. Steve was asked to be the MC so he and I were sent our plane tickets, provided with hotel accommodations, and even some spending money. We visited Gandhi's Bombay home (now a museum), attended an evening program with MANY people on the beach, joined a huge parade on Gandhi's birthday, had tea at the Taj Hotel, and watched a snake charmer at the Gateway to India. After we returned, we said we'd go back to see other areas of India.

We booked our trip for September, getting a great deal with OAT. We'll fly into Delhi, travel via bus, train, camel, internal flights, and return to Delhi the day before we fly home. It will be HOT when we go but we can manage. After all, we did okay on our recent trip to Cambodia and Thailand so it won't be much worse as far as the temp is concerned. We'll have to take the same anti-malaria protection meds and take along the cipro...just in case. We bought a new very small computer which I'm planning to take so I can do regular jouirnal entries that I'll upload to this blog when we have the opportunity.
